Sharing Your Voice with the World

In 2001, a day before September 11th, I found myself in a room with Anthony Robbins’ voice coach, Edwin Coppard. As the entire world was about to be rocked by the events the following day, a shake up and wake up came in a different form for me that day.  We were on the Big Island of Hawaii, and even though a liberating soul shift had occurred in my life experience some years before, positively affecting all of the circumstances in my life profoundly, there were some severe judgments of ‘my voice’ that were surfacing, and I was guided to book a personal session with Edwin, with the intention and hopes of moving past them.
We did some basic toning, him asking me to let go and allow the sound to come through.  And it did.  God, it was so ‘loud’! Weird! Embarrassing!  

“Wow”, he remarked.  “You really have a voice.  You could be a singer.  If you wanted to.”  

As he said this he excused himself to get something in the other room.  I sat there and let the words sink in of what he had just said.  I felt anger rising.  How could he joke with me like that?  He’s supposed to be a professional!  Edwin does have quite a bit of a trickster in him, always joking.  But this wasn’t funny.  How could he be so mean??!
As he walked back into the room I scanned his face and didn’t see any trace of the comedian, and I realized he wasn’t joking. I then remember feeling totally confused.  What he had said was so far out of the realm of my reality I had no way to take it in.  We continued on with the session and as I walked back to my room afterwards I remember seeing colors I had never seen before. Smells and sounds too. The whole world looked completely different.  Looking back, I had been initiated into an entirely different world of possibilities.

I had written poetry since I was very young and had been acknowledged and even asked to stand in front of the class and read a few.  This happened both in second grade and in seventh, and was a nightmare experience both times for someone so shy and introverted.  There was another time a teacher read one of my essays out loud to another class without my knowledge.  It seems these acknowledgments, leading to greater visibility, stopped me from writing through my later teens and twenties, which in hindsight was a great loss, since the writing itself was a primary way for me to connect with Source. God. The Great Mystery.  I used to wonder “where” the poems came from.  They just seemed to appear out of no where.  I can remember back in second grade writing them and then going to the over-sized dictionary in my parents bedroom to see what some of the words meant.  This is still the kind of process that happens today with poems, with much of the writing, and with music.  At times I’ll start singing a song and at a certain point realize it’s not a song I’ve heard before.  Sometimes they come while I’m practicing guitar.  They’ll just ‘be there’ all of the sudden.  It is such a magical and deeply engaging experience.

But, on other levels, it’s been anything but a magical experience.  When I first put the Living Beyond Belief book out there, and started sharing the songs, a LOT came up to heal and move beyond.  The ‘gift’ felt like a curse.  I started having graphic nightmares of being stoned and burned at the stake.  It was during a session with an energy healer who had an excellent reputation, as well as a high end charge, that I hit another level of seeing just how significant all this was to move through.  He scanned the energy centers and when he got to the throat I started to feel like I couldn’t breath, and let out a little cough.  Then he let out a little cough.  My throat tightened, and I coughed again.  Then he did.  It was a bit funny at first, because it kept happening, but it continued to get more and more intense until both of us were coughing and ‘gagging’, unable to stop.  I can still see him on the other side of the room bent over and holding his throat, getting tissues to clear out what was coming up.  Holy Cow!  After at least ten minutes we both started to get our breath back and he walked over to finish the session.  With out any emotion or fanfare he said, “Your voice has tremendous power, it always has, and it has always gotten you in trouble.” 

 

Oookay. So, what do you do with that kind of information exactly??  Well, if you don’t move beyond it, or let it out, share it, you get sick.  You get stuck.  You feel like hell.  So, it becomes the choice-less choice. And, when people say, wow, you are so lucky and so blessed,  you sometimes honestly want to say, yeah, well, you should be so blessed.  But, you don’t of course.  Because it is a gift.  It is a joy.  There just might be quite a bit to move through in order to deliver it fully, and joy-fully.  

In these times, and especially if you have read this far,  you are most likely here to ‘share your voice’ or ‘sing your song’, however that may play out in your own life.  It doesn’t have to be public speaking, or writing, or singing, it could simply be saying what is on your heart with those in your life, being an example of integrity and authenticity.  It could be taking that next step that your soul is guiding you to take.  And, you never know, you might just end up singing, recording, and/or speaking.  You might not even be aware of it yet, just like I wasn’t  back then!  You also might have been sharing your gift, your unique voice, for some time, but are moving into new levels of visibility or depth and having more come up to be released in the process!  A lot of us are shocked to discover what’s inside when we open up to the ‘largeness’ of what we are.  There is infinite Beauty and Light to be revealed.  And at times there might seem to be infinite gunk!  But wherever you are in the process, keep going!  It's why You have come to this planet which is now in such great transition.  You, Your Voice, We, were made for these times!

I have to say though, my favorite ‘studio’ is still out in Nature.  For years now the work with my voice has journeyed from singing and songwriting (although I still love to work within this medium as well!) to toning and singing in Nature (and watching Her respond-- magical indeed!!)  Also within groups of people, shifting the energetic frequency, clearing the space, and bringing light to the illusion of darkness; in body, mind and spirit.  What happens in these settings at times still still blows me away- the Grace that occurs for, and as, Us!  Beyond Belief!! It is interesting that things seemed to have slowed down to a crawl in the way of teaching and doing events (Mother Nature has been the primary audience as of late), and the mind can go to all kinds of places with that, but the frequencies keep expanding, there is no doubt about that, and more projects are revealing themselves. So, I guess, all we can say is Stay Tuned.

The response from those who have heard the full CD has been extremely positive-- saying they found their “new favorite song” - this actually happened in Copacabana, Bolivia last Winter when we shared it with a restaurant owner who was moved to tears by a song and played it throughout the day on his loud speakers on to the main street!  That was a surprise!  The not fully mixed and mastered CD  has only been shared with a few people and one reported back he listened to it “over twenty times” and sees it doing extremely well once it’s out.  So, even though working with the songs in this way (i.e. recording in a studio) is not my personal favorite, the feedback has been encouraging to continue on.  To know that someone can be moved and inspired over and over again by listening, and that I can play a part in bringing this type of healing music/consciousness into the world is very humbling and fulfilling.  It even makes all that time in the studio, all of the money spent, and all of the former nightmares and gagging sessions worth it! There is nothing like the feeling of knowing you are doing what you were meant to do.  For me this is one of them. Another one for me is holding the space, and guiding and assisting others in discovering their unique voice /gift. (more on that soon!)  And in essence that is what the Great Work is about.  Bringing Forth Our True and Authentic Gifts to the World.  They are so needed at this time!  Blessings to Your True Voice, Blessed Gifts, and Soul Purpose in these times of great opportunity for radical change and core healing:

Now, on to the New Equation:

The other night I was watching a quantum physicist lecture and realized why I could never really get into my science classes when I was young, even though I loved the premise of scientific study and experiments. 

I intuitively knew something was 'off base', even at a very young age, and from what this and other scientists are now saying I understand why. In more advanced physics when the equation doesn't add up, you can just tweak outer variables until it does. WHAT????!!!! 
I mean, think about that.  

Because of certain assumptions (if you can't see it with your physical senses, it must not exist) we have been measuring and studying the world around us, putting equations before reality.  If the equation doesn’t add up, it's reality that must be wrong.  Imagine how far off course this has taken us!!  (Actually, you don’t have to use your imagination, just turn on the news.)

There is no difference between the new science that is emerging on all levels and the new 'us' that is awakening.  The old labels, misconceptions, and limitations will eventually be clumped in with such notions as "the earth is flat".  At least we ‘became’ 3D in that discovery, but now humanity is ‘going quantum’.  
Pure Divinity Here We Are. 

This is not about thinking or labeling ourselves as “spiritual”, but clearly seeing what we have been told is true, and have mostly experienced as true, up to now, simply isn’t. It is not about ‘us’ making or creating a new world. It is just What Is, that we are now realizing and participating in. Just like we once realized the Earth was round and not flat, we are moving away from the “only human” reality, and realizing entirely new dimensions of ourselves.  Just like we realized that the Earth was not the center of the Universe, we are shifting from egocentricity to Divine-centricity = Divinity.  Pure Divinity.  It’s pretty simple, really. We just got the math wrong.
 For those of you who have read the book or followed these posts, know the following 'story', so "bear with".  
On a personal level, many years ago I was living an 'average' life.  I was carrying a hundred extra pounds (hereditary you know), smoked and drank to alleviate the anxiety, and for the most part was not having a grand time of it all.  Then 'something' happened. It was like waking up from a dream (or, like waking up from a limited state of consciousness that had been created using faulty equations).  

Who we are is too big to fit into the small equations.  It will never work out. Humanity will never work on this planet until we realize What We Really Are and begin to operate in the new equations.  In this 'new' reality I was not a lazy, overweight, dumb, bored, and anxious person-- Holy Cow, I was Life Itself. Love. Pure Divinity!! I felt like I had lost my mind, and in a way I had. But, as it turned out, it was the kind of crazy that makes you sane.

After that moment nothing was ever the same. The weight began to fall off, the drinking and smoking fell away after a time, and life became what it had always been, I had just 'forgotten' what it was: A tremendous gift, an opportunity to love, share and serve, and, a miraculous adventure!  

In the course of events my daughter came out of school, to learn at home, and I went back into school and earned a Master's in the emerging field of Spiritual Psychology. During that program I wrote a book to share some of what was happening and how life looked from this other vantage point (Living Beyond Belief) and began to work with a voice coach to 'heal my relationship with my voice'.  
What came next truly shocked me.  I was told I could sing. 
What?! Suddenly all of those elementary school and teenage angst poetry writing days came back to me and songs started to flow through.  Only this time the poems and lyrics weren’t about being lost and confused and filled with angst. They were about Reality, and about the Beauty, Light and Love that We Really Are, about trusting and knowing it is all unfolding in perfect order, and seeing the beauty in everything.

For someone who never intended to sing, once the music started coming, I couldn't stop it! It has forced me to come out of my once very small and very tight shell.  I have played in many venues and feel so grateful to be able to bring forth music that touches the heart and soul so deeply. It often moves people to tears, and although several of the songs on this CD are versions that are moving and shaking rhythm wise, it carries through the message and mood of the songs beautifully!

A Choice in the Matter; You Love Child You

Are You a Love Child?

A personal question, I know, but for our purposes let’s just cut to the chase:

Yes, You Are.

Good news, huh!!

What? You say you’re not? Definitely not!

You say you’ve done years of therapy and why did I have to go and bring it up?  

Hmmm...

Even though Webster defines a ‘love child’ as a child born out of wedlock, that book can be just a bit behind the times. (Not the only book behind the times, erugh, ughm.) 

But really, when it comes down to it, does it really matter whether you were a child born out of wedlock, into a healthy and happy one, or, one that ended up “unlocking”?  Or, does it matter much more that as a human being you possess something that allows you to forge, shape, manifest, and allow a brilliant life experience regardless of any outer factors?

What is this magical, mystical, liberating, life enhancing special something you ask?! 

Choice.    

Ah!  And what a something it is!!  

Think about it. We are free to choose our attitude, our focus, our beliefs, our response.... you are even free to believe you have a choice.  Or not!

Choosing by default is still a choice. ( I know, I know, ‘not fair’. )

Refusing to believe you have a choice, is, in fact, a choice. 

But, then again in another sense, paradoxically, you don’t really, truly have a choice until you become aware that you do. You can really only choose if you are aware that you have a choice!

And then, to go a bit further down the paradoxical rabbit hole, in Reality, You just Are. Everything is in Divine Flow. Choice is an illusion.

But here, we digress.

Or, possibly, progress.

In any case...

Within the human experience you are totally free to condemn, judge, complain, blame and beat yourself and others down.  You are also totally free to forgive, compliment, focus on solutions, and lift yourself and others up.

Some of the most important moments (which come again and again) in a human being’s life is when they realize they actually have a choice in the matter.  

A choice in the matter!  We actually have a choice, in, and as, the matter.

We can choose to see Heaven in (and as) any matter.  In ANY matter. In matter itself.  In any circumstance or situation we can choose to see Heaven, feel Heaven, and even Be Heaven.  

We really can just as easily create the experience of heaven as we can of hell.  

Sounds crazy, doesn’t it?  Nutty buddy, really.  Why on Earth would we continue to create hell if we had a choice in the matter???

Ah ha.  “If we had a choice in the matter.”  

Maaaaybe the only thing that stands in the way of Heaven manifesting on the Earth plane is our lack of awareness of the true power of choice.

Because even though much of the planets Love Children's thoughts and perceptions appear to be set on ‘hell default’, we can choose to shift our view to Heaven. 

Right now, in this moment, if you are reading this, you have the capacity to focus on Heaven. So, go ahead.  Get your Heaven on.

Wait a minute, did I see you just look up?  Oh no, no- not up there!!  Ei yiyi!

Isn’t this really where the whole problem began?  This separation thing? 

As they say, location is everything. 

We’ve been taught that Heaven is “up there”, which by default makes Earth “down here”.  (Waaay down here, if you know what I mean.)  

So, as soon as we choose to accept that world view, don’t we automatically separate earth from heaven?  Two things.  Different.  Over there.  Over here.  Heaven.  Earth.  And by that polarized default, don’t we usually, since our location is ‘down here’, ‘down below’, have the tendency to create some version of "down here", i.e. hell?  Maybe just a mini hell at this point in the game.  Bity, bity hell.  Or, at the very least a tired existence. You know, fine.  I’m fine.  Limbo.  Until I’m not.  Or better yet, purgatory.  A whole lotta hell as preparation for some heaven, perhaps? 

Oh Love Child, for this purpose were we born?

Why not, just for today, all day if we're daring enough, remember who we are and where we are:   Love Children living in Heaven.

If we so choose.

And if you’re tempted to look up when thinking of Heaven, practice holding your head in place.  Have someone else hold it for you. Get a neck brace. It might take some doing to break the habit. Practice looking straight ahead and seeing Heaven is Here.  Now. 

(And, just for the fun of it, since we know that God is in Heaven, why don’t we remember who that person in front of us really is?

As a final note: if you are basking in the awareness of What You Really Are, beyond separation, beyond illusion, well now, you don’t have to choose something when you realize you Are It.  In that space choice no longer applies.  Carry on. 

And, if that doesn’t make sense, don’t worry about it.  In fact, let's practice not worrying about anything.

The Feminine Returns.... to be... schooled?

The Feminine Mystic

Yes, of course, we love and honor the Feminine Mystique, and, in some ways a Feminine Mystic is an oxymoron since the Mystic transcends the polarized reality of masculine and feminine.  But, here we are in the wild wild western culture, where Newton’s Law and material based science still rules, where the power, prestige, and influence goes to the ones with the most wins, the most toys, without much thought about what we might be losing in the process. At least that's how it has been. 

Feminine qualities of intuition, depth, receptivity, process, feelings and emotions, harmony, cooperation, compassion, community, honoring all of life, are viewed as nice sentiments at best and human weaknesses and distractions from what we really need to focus on at worst. At least that's how it has been.             

                                                                                                                                                                  The feminine qualities are much more powerful than we can imagine for a healthy, thriving human family and environment.  The problem is the fear that arises in a knee jerk reaction to what is not understood, and to that which cannot be controlled.  Women, girls, and these feminine traits and qualities have received an incredible amout of bad PR for a very long time.  

Several months back I attended a Tibetan Monk’s afternoon talk.  Being the head of a large school in India, and a scholar, he mostly read from a sacred text on higher principles of living and how one can be successful as a monk.  It seemed an interesting, and at times fairly awkward, topic for the Northern California crowd.  When he opened the floor for questions, I couldn’t help myself, since the Dalai Lama’s image had been staring at me from a large picture on stage all afternoon. There only seemed one logical question.  

“What do you think the Dalai Lama meant when he said the Western woman would save the world?”, I asked.  I felt the energy in the room immediately shift, not in a Dalai Lama kind of way I might add, and I started to wish I hadn’t brought it up.  But, then the deeper curiosity took over, and I was glad I was there and glad it had been brought up in this setting.  After the commotion died down (it was a Buddhist gathering, so commotion in this context was quiet whispers and hushed laughs) he said it was the first time he had heard the reference, and said he didn’t know.  Then he made a joke about women in the west being part of the army and maybe fighting is how they will do it.  A few people laughed, nervously it seemed.  I didn’t. I waited.  Then he said that maybe it was part of what he was seeing as he travelled all over the world.  That in the west the majority of his audience were women.  That they seemed to be much more interested in spirituality and in deeper understanding.  Now that would definitely seem to be a bit more of what he meant.

In the larger conversation of empowering women and girls on the planet, much of what is being proposed is ushering more girls and women into finding their power in masculine based roles and ways of relating, via traditional education.  The question that arises when I hear that women are the answer to a global economy, is, Do we really want to employ millions more into a system in which financial and material profit is (still) the bottom line? Where feminine qualities are seen as distractions and aberrations to the real work and duty of human beings.

The current western educational model might be the answer if Nature, the Earth, was not a living, “breathing” system, and if we were “only human”, as we’ve come to know the term.  Without a greater understanding, and even more importantly, awareness and experience, of Who We Are as Spiritual Beings we will continue to operate and make decisions from a limited, separate sense of self, rather than tapping into our much greater capacity as Spiritual Being and into the inherent Oneness of Life.           Even if the millions of girls were put into schools today, this deeper issue would go unaddressed. Let me be clear that it is fairly obvious that being in a typical school setting and subsequent job is light years ahead of the alternative for most girls in developing countries.  I would love nothing more to see all girls, and boys, and women, and men, all of us, living in a peaceful and abundant manner on Earth, all of us getting our needs met and having the opportunity to express our gifts and talents. I just don’t see the answer at this stage of the game as a system that is falling apart because of it's refusal to expand to fill the needs of our growing awareness of What We Are.  It is no longer an outer game, but an inner one.  Until we know What We Are, as well as What Earth/Gaia Is, how can we know what we are really doing here?  How can we take one step forward without considering this fundamental question much more deeply than we ever have? It seems the outer solutions will only ever be temporary, creating more problems in their wake, as long as we fail to address and answer the real questions of our existence.  New answers are coming into many fields of science, but, since science itself has become more political with much riding on the implications of such new and disturbing changes to what we have based our reality on, most of it is being brushed away.  Much of the new science will not even make it into the textbooks for at least another ten years, maybe twenty.  To consider more deeply the question of schooling being the answer to girl’s/women’s problems go to:  http://schoolingtheworld.org/ and http://www.racetonowhere.com/ and also http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005O730CO/ref=atv_feed_catalog?tag=imdb-amazonvideo-20

Recent studies have shown that while more women than ever are graduating from college and earning more than ever in the west, they also report being much less happy than in the past.  This is a trend that began in the 70’s and is continuing. Our quality of life is diminishing with physical and mental health issues skyrocketing. Is it that the human race is naturally evolving into a sicker, unhappier, more stressed out version of itself, or, does it have more to do with creating systems and ways of life which are incredibly out of balance with Who We Are and what we are here for?

It does seem the only true solution is maturing spiritually, waking up from the illusion of separation, embracing feminine qualities of being, which many, many women are being drawn to now, and creating social structures from this level of understanding and awareness of What We Are.  This is not something we can ‘do’, but it is something we can intend, invite, inwardly contemplate, and ultimately surrender to.  While this society has been built primarily on control and conformity, we will need to consider what we might build instead with an open mind and a deep curiosity, with innate knowing and trust, with tremendous creative leaps and innovations, and with an abiding and sincere love for one another and for the planet, none of which is typically cultivated and encouraged in a basic school setting.

Asking "What Now?"..... Now

Isn’t it something that we have the infinite Source of Light Love Joy Bliss Beauty Freedom Peace within us.... 

that We Are It.... and 

because we have been taught.... 

(by those who forgot....)

to dumb down the light .... 

we actually start a quest at some point to look for all of these things in the world seemingly outside of us, seemingly separate from us.  

And whenever we do manage to get what we think will bring us that coveted quality, eventually it loses it’s power to do so, or we realize it actually isn’t what we really wanted, or it loses it's initial shebangie and the bells and whistles get a bit muffled and we ask, “What Now?”

So, instead of spending all kinds of time money effort looking outside for what we think we need to make us happy or bring us that special quality, let's remember where it actually lies, the real deal, the Source within, and, 

answer the “What Now?” question once and for all.

This Now.

Here.

Now.

No other place, no other time.

No place. No time. 

Now.

The only true Joy there will ever be.  As the Authentic Self.  As One.  As All.  

Once that question is really answered we will never need to ask “What Now?” again.                            It is always Now, always Happening, always Life.  All There Is..   No Matter What. 

Born To; Juice, Joy, and Genius

Following on the last post of the should’s, can’s and born to's.....

here are some clues that you are in or moving into the ‘born to’ aspect of life.

Again, this is not about finding one thing in the world to do, but more of an open ended exploration.

When Rumi says “if you don’t do the thing he sent you to do” (see last post) the ego mind will usually look to a limited project rather than a way of being or a larger, more comprehensive, perspective.  Writing a book, learning a skill, expressing a gift; these are all nice things, but by no means what your soul is here to ‘do’, and is not the kind of thing Rumi is speaking of. These can be effects of finding your purpose, not the purpose itself.

When you do hit upon your soul purpose you will discover a few things:

One, it will have a lot of juice for you.  It will inspire you to no end and bring an inexhaustible amount of energy, since it is not coming from your ego, (the should or can aspect), but from higher dimensions of being and from the Truth of What You Are.  There will always be a sense that it is coming from ‘beyond you’, or not something that the personal self can take credit for.

Two, it will bring great joy to yourself and others. Accessing your soul purpose and sharing it with others is quite possibly the greatest joy there is, as well as being desperately needed in the world today.  The joy that comes from aligning with what you were born to do is beyond comprehension.  As a side note, it should be mentioned that there may be those who will be threatened by what you are 'born to do' if they have not yet discovered their own.  While this may cause the personality some discomfort, it can not diminish the joy of inner discovery and soul expression.

Three, it will be completely unique and unrepeatable.  Everyone has a unique genius that is not talent alone, but a way of being or expressing that is far beyond what we have come to know as normal.  It is accessing the Soul. Spiritual beingness. 

To get to the point of alignment with this level of ‘doing’ (which is really non-doing from the ego level) takes great commitment and perseverance.  It takes a great deal of inner reflection and the ability to follow the inner guidance when it comes, and it can be of tremendous value to surround oneself with others who are of like intent of deep inner discovery and expression.  

There are no special people, just those who have made special commitments to themselves to go beyond internal barriers of who and what they have been told they are.

Here’s to all of our genius'

Should Do, Can Do, Born To Do

Blessings Beings of Beingness!

In these times of the Great Shift we are realizing capabilities and powers far beyond what being human has meant in the past.  Before these ways of being have been reserved for special people only, for yogis and saints, not for the average Joe. 

But, Joe, Jane, Dick, Diane.... it doesn’t matter what your name is, where you were born- if you are reading this you have either begun to activate these powers within, or you know there is much more to yourself and to life than you have been able to access.  On some level you are aware you have come to the planet to be a part of something fantastic- out of this world, while very much in this world; the next stage of human evolution. There are gifts inside of you that you have come to share with humanity; in contribution to this Great Shift in Consciousness that is now occurring.  

Whether they are healing gifts, artistic gifts, teaching, building, visioning, or a mixed bag of many gifts, there is something only you can do, in the specific way you can do it.  You are an essential piece of the Divine Puzzle Plan and as you show up in your fullness others may be able to see the image of the puzzle just a bit more clearly and see where they fit.  

This reminds me of something the mystic poet Rumi was known to have said;

“It’s as if a king has sent you to a foreign land.  You could do a hundred things, but if you don’t do the thing he sent you to do, it will be as if you did not come.”

Now the conditioned mind, or ego, can get ahold of this and make a nightmare out of it, as fear comes crashing in along with guilt that you haven't gotten it, or aren’t living to your highest ability, eghads, and all will be lost.  

Beyond that, there is a great and wonderful opportunity to trust yourself, find what really brings you alive, and bring it forth in service to joy and love and freedom to the One of Us.

A few seem to come in knowing right off the bat what they have come to give and share, while most of us navigate the territory of should’s and can’s before we get to the born to’s. 

Here are a few reasons we find ourselves doing what we do:

Because we should.  Because we think of ourselves as good people, and because our parents, or others we have been influenced by, often show us what we need to do, we learn to use our time and energy to perpetuate these beliefs and ways of life.  If you glance back at the people around you as you grew up, and see what their values were and how they lived you most often see yourself doing the same things in the same ways.  Until you start to question if these are really your values and the ways you were meant to do things.  The exception to this modeling is the rebel stance which does the opposite of what we were shown, but this can be just as limiting to our soul as unconscious modeling.   In this scenario of modeling, the should’s often become have to’s after a time, and we end up living someone else’s life instead of the profound potential We Are and have come to Be.

Because we can.  This is another good one, especially for those multi talented and intelligent folks out there.  Just because we can do something doesn’t mean it is in the best interest and of greatest service.  We can really get stuck in this one because of the positive feedback, compensation, and rationalization that we are doing so well in it, even if it isn’t a great passion, or it doesn't bring us alive the way sharing a gift of the soul does.

Because We were born to.  This is a whole other level of living and you know it when you’re in it.  It can take some deep soul searching, intent, reflection, experimenting, patience and practice to get there, but is worth it by all means.                                                                      For years I was getting messages and visions of singing, but since I had never sang ( at least not in public! ) and hated the sound of my voice, I brushed them off as odd.  Even though I was passionately asking what I was here to do!  I knew I could write, so that was a focus, but singing was so far outside of the idea of who I was I could not accept the messages.           Over time, one thing led to another, and when I was at at top spiritual venue in London sharing my original songs and poetry to an audience of a few hundred, that feeling of deep knowing came in, a deja vu kind of feeling, a deep gratifying alignment.  When one of the long time board members of this venue came over afterwards and said, “Well, you obviously know what you are here to do,” I still could not fully take it in!  It was almost too easy, too simple.  It came so naturally I didn’t have to think about it- except when the thought came in ‘I’m not a singer’.  Ei yi yi.

So, go ahead and do what you need to do.  And, if you have not ever had the sense that you were doing the thing you were born to do, (and yes, there can be more than one thing) keep going, keep discovering, keep asking, keep smiling.  The Universe can’t help but answer a sincere request of the heart and soul.
